crunchpadMichael Arrington(more info & blogs written by him), the founder of TechCrunch(more info) is all set to launch CrunchPad(more info). What is CrunchPad ? As Arrington says

“A dead simple Web Tablet” having an“overall thickness to about 18 mm with an aluminium case”

“A Linux based operating system and a Webkit based browser, the device boots directly into the browser”.

The operating system exists solely to handle the hardware drivers and run the browser and associated applications”.

Having a virtual keyboard this internet consumption gadget is going to cost somewhere around $250 – $300. Most of the programming effort is driven by Fusion Garage(more info), a start-up based in Singapore which is headed by Chandrasekar Rathakrishnan. It is being manufactured in China (Did you guys notice the pattern? Developed by an Indian & manufactured in China! :) ). Processor ? Bingo, Intel Atom(more info). Apparently it is being reported that CrunchPad Inc.(which was lauched recently) is in the process of acquiring Fusion Garage. Here is the life cycle of CrunchPad till now…
