Report: Apple iPod Catching Fire.
Apple iPods (more info) are smoking, catching fire, smouldering and bursting into flames right from 2005. But Apple has tried to suppress the news by telling every victim “yours is an isolated incident”. As many as 15 iPods are reported to have cough fire (obviously many incidents would have never been reported). According to KIRO7TVit has finally got access to the 800 page document that contains a detailed report of all the reported incidents. Here is one of them
“I was so frustrated because frankly, they didn’t care. They didn’t care that my child was burned. They didn’t care that my child was burned. They didn’t care about the possibilities that other children were burned.”
More of it here, here, here and here
According to KIRO 7 TV It took them 7-months to gain access to the documents from US Consumer Product Safety Commission because “Apple’s lawyers filed exemption after exemption”.
This is probably because of the poor quality of the lithium-ion battery in iPods. But the important thing is why hasn’t Apple rectified the problem if they are aware of it from such a long time? This is cheap.
