FCC Slams Apple & AT&T, Asks : Why Was Google Voice iPhone App Rejected?

apple-google-attFederal Communications Commission – FCC (more info) has sent a letter to Apple, AT&T and Google asking all the 3 parties to give reason for the rejection of Google Voice App and removal of related third-party applications. The Dow Jones newswire reports that this is the part on the ongoing investigation into wireless handsets. FCC has asked some chilling questions and here are the

To Apple (more info)

“Why did Apple reject the Google Voice application for iPhone and remove related third-party applications from its App Store?”

“Did Apple act alone, or in consultation with AT&T”

To Google (more info)

“Please provide a description of the proposed Google Voice application for iPhone.”

“What explanation was given (if any) for Apple’s rejection of the Google Voice Application?”

To AT&T (more info)

“What role, if any, did AT&T play in Apple’s consideration of the Google Voice and related applications?”

“Did Apple consult with AT&T in the process of deciding to reject the Google Voice application?”

FCC deserves a standing ovation here. It has acted in best interested of all consumers. FCC save us from AT&T and Apple. Please.

    @kmk : FCC is no moron, it is just trying to esquire the reason behind the rejection and the what policies does the app store follow in approval/rejection. You need to follow some rule and cant just reject any app with out reason… if that reason is competition then say that, if that reason is AT&T then let the world know about it…

    You are all morons. AT&T asked Apple to reject it because that would allow AT&T customers to pay only for 3G bandwidth and no actual phone plan. AT&T would stand to lose billions.
