Microsoft Unveiled Visual Search For Bing, Can It Change The Way We Search?

bing_Visual_ SearchMicrosoft announced the launch of a new search engine feature in Bing called as Visual Search at TechCrunch50 conference in San Francisco. Visual Search helps user to search by images through image galleries when they don’t remember the name of the keyword they are looking for. It has been launched in the beta version with just 100 visual galleries like popular music, top songs, popular books etc but it is going to expand it with time. The images can be sorted or filtered with different parameters like rating or price.  All the categories consists of images in structured data sets from reliable sources. But users need have Silverlight installed in their browsers to experience this feature. Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s Senior Vice President while launching Visual Search at TechCrunch50  says

The world of search will change. There will be a more graphic way people will search, and it will pivot how people search.

It can change the way we search by relying more on images than on text. Bing has started to equip itself with right ammunition like Visual Search to take on Google. One last thing before ending this post, Microsoft has also included a gallery for Top iPhone App in Visual Search regardless of Steve Balmer’s detestation for iPhones. Laudable…

    dumm…. and what is the point of the article? No one will any way use Bing for all this crap. It is about the quality of the search results that matter not the GUI!Ex. Google.
