Twitter Figures Out A Way To Make Money?

Has Twitter finally figured out a way to monetize its real time data generated by over 50 million monthly users? If we are to believe Kara Swisher of All Things Digital then

“Twitter is in advanced talks with Microsoft and Google separately about striking data-mining deals, in which the companies would license a full feed from the microblogging service that could then be integrated into the results of their competing search engines.”

But this is not enough. What really intrigues me is this

“Twitter is, instead, seeking to create a large open platform, which many could plug into, from search engines to marketers to publishers to developers.”

Monetizing? Twitter will charge huge sums of money for these data feeds + A portion of revenue made by the search engine from these search results.
Back in July, Bing did something similar by integrating tweets (of selected Twitter users) into its search results and last week even Google updated its options to make it more real time.
Recently Twitter raised $100 million from investments at a valuation of 1 billion. Twitter still does not generate any sizable revenue thought it did try out a few monetizing methods earlier.

P.S. – Starting from today we will start categorizing the Follow-Ups according their content. This might help you further narrow down your Follow-Up selection. Do give in your feed back on this!
