Google + Motorola + Verizon = DROID = iPhone Killer ? Droid Revealed
Google, Verizon and Motorola have come together and they have created Droid, which is being seen as the iPhone killer (may be because of the hype created by iDon’t ads). BGR had its hands on forthcoming Droid (with series of photo), which is expected to be released on Oct 30. They call it an impressive new phone since the iPhone and best Android phone ever. Google is said to have worked very closely with Motorola on the design and development of Droid. Here are the highlights of what BGR has discovered.
- Upcoming Android 2.0 will power it
- It is thicker than iPhone 3GS and thinnest QWERTY slider (we have a whole debate on this).
- Running on faster TI OMAP3430 processor that is also being used by iPhone.
- It comes with a desktop cradle that can turn it into a “multimedia station” which displays weather, time and the like. (No photo of this accessory).
Android needs to pace up their development of apps, there are just 10,000+ apps than compared to 85,000+ apps for the iPhone. What Apple has to do? iPhone needs to come up with multiple carriers so that customers get a seamless 3G connectivity. There is also rumor floating in that Verizon testing a CDMA iPhone for their 4G LTE network amid their aggressive campaign against iPhone. If that’s true then indeed, amazing wit shown by Verizon.

An iPhone killer? I am very excited about Android’s expansion and possibilities but iPhone is not going to go away any time soon.

@Cam +1. iPhone is well footed and i can not see it crumbling any time soon as well.
It will be very difficult to see an iPhone killer until a single company controls the OS and the Hardware, just like Apple does. Cool phone though, we develop apps and games for both iPhone and Android, so it would be a great addition.

@hakim I can give you an an example of computer world. PC is not under the control of single company but still windows is the highest used OS in the world. So you never know when something clicks..!!
If that’s the case the same formula should have applied to windows mobile, but I may be going off on a tangent. To see my answer visit softwaysolutions.blogspot.com

Thats what I am saying you never know when somethings sell and somethings not.. You can’t actually take out a particular reason for its failure or success… As far as Windows mobile is concerned it was a total crash. Why Palm Pre is not as popular as iPhone? As both the OS i.e. Palm Pre webOS and hardware are designed by Palm. And they are as comparable as iPhone. Anyways some other rumor is coming in that Google is planning its own Android phone.

+1 I would agreed. You can not say with cent percent surety what will work and what will not work.. you can just making more accurate predictions every time you plan some thing new, but there can not be any fixed formulas in business (& life ).
Consumers will switch brands with a clear benefit to them. Unfriendly handsets combined with feature fatigue created an opportunity which the iPhone met. (Give it up for their marketing prowess, too.)
But, watch Google because mobile is key to their expansion strategy. Eric Schmidt, Google’s CEO, stated mobile is going to be bigger than the Internet. Expect very aggressive market moves and innovation…which will be good for the mobile industry!

Yeah.. Eric said “Android adoption is about to explode” We can expect some very aggressive moves by Google…
