Who is JooJoo? Hint -It’s Not The Name Of My Neighbor’s Dog [Updated TechCrunch Vs Fusion Garage Continues...]

Chandrasekar_joojoo

Chandrasekar with JooJoo (AKA CrunchPad)

The wait is almost over. Premiering, midnight PST Friday 11th, December 2009. These magical words can be found on theJooJoo.com. What’s so magical about it? JooJoo is an African term, which means magical or paranormal. Why is it paranormal? As it has been pronounced dead last week but see the magic it is getting reborn on 11th December with a new disgusting name. JooJoo is not the name of my neighbor’s dog but it’s the name of a resurrected tablet computer. The name is beyond my imagination.

Enough of JooJoo, let’s hit back to some serious story. Last week Arrington declared that CrunchPad is dead before its arrival. But the CEO of Fusion Garage and former business partner of Arrington Chandrasekar Rathakrishnan had fired back at Arrington with the launch of JooJoo, the new nasty name of CrunchPad.  In a videoconference Chandra lambasted Arrington and said that they are launching JooJoo (name changed) on their own without TechCrunch’s involvement. It’s going to cost you $499 (out of budget).  Few of the important points from his side of the story that may have shaked Arrington upside down.

TechCrunch don’t own any IP of this product they just own the trademark of CrunchPad. That’s the reason why they have changed it to JooJoo (heck)

TechCrunch has not written even a single line of code. Had he expected Arrington to write code for him? But yeah point taken, what was the CrunchPad of Arrington doing?

No lawsuits filled against Fusion Garage by TechCrunch till now. But how come Arrington has provided the papers of the lawsuits in his blogpost?

TechCrunch is just a blog. We didn’t know that. Thank you for telling us.

There is no way Arrington will allow this to happen. First of all he has been involved in this project for more than a year (his dream project) and also his repute is at stake. I am just waiting for his post and the next move. But you have to give credit to the wily brain of Chandrasekar. He had used Arrington to get all the publicity he can get in this world and when the date of release of the product arrived, he just dumped Arrington.

I am not going to discuss whether or not you should buy JooJoo as there are lot many hurdles still in the way of JooJoo. But if you still want to get the review of the JooJoo, just get the links from our Related Dusts section.

Disclaimer: I am not at all against the device JooJoo but I just can’t digest the name JooJoo. (WTF? How can give such a name to a tablet computer?).  On a positive note the reviews of the device looks realltitioy sexy (but expensive).

Update: TechCrunch Files Lawsuit Over JooJoo (Arrington Vs Chandra continues…)

My wait is over – Arrington responds (or rather fired back) to the allegations with the filing of the lawsuit against Fusion Garage [lawsuit available for download]. The cause of the lawsuit -

  • Fraud and Deceit
  • Misappropriation of Business Ideas.
  • Unfair Competition
  • Breach of Fiduciary Duty

Few of the important points coming out from Arrington’s Post

  • Fusion Garage- Where is the evidence against TechCrunch?
  • Fusion Garage cleared up the evidence against them by deleting their blog just before breaking ties with TechCrunch.
  • Fusion Garage don’t have money to even hire an attorney to fight against lawsuits filed by TechCrunch.  They are going to hire attorney from their pre-sales order.
  • Arrington also fired on other blogs for linking to JooJoo pre-sales site without disclosing Fusion Garage’s financial situation.
  • Arrington designed the entire blueprint of CrunchPad.
