Google Coming Out With Its Own Chrome OS Netbook By End of 2010?
After Google Phone getting more or less confirmed now another stunner from Google. If TechCrunch is to be believed then Google is planning to come out with its very own net book by next holiday season.
TC’s Arrington says :
“That may explain why Google has, according to multiple sources, been talking to at least one hardware manufacturer about building a netbook for Google directly.”
“Our understanding is that Google intends to have the devices built, branded with Google, and then sell them directly to consumers.”
Highlights Google branded netbook-
- Google wants to provide a smoother Google Chrome OS experience by taking control of the hardware.
- Mobile enabled, much like Nokia 3G.
- Google is talking to at least one hardware manufacturer and have already given a Request For Purpose (RFP) document.
- Very low price range.
- Google might be going with an ARM CPU (with Nvidia’s Tegra line)rather than Intel Atom. Now this could mean a serious distribution in the hardware industry. ARM has been ARMing around to get into the net book market and finally i guesses they have got a break. Exec at Intel should be having a sleep less night if this story comes out to be true. Well nailed ARM, anti competitive Intel needs some good competition.
This could mean further worsening of Apple-Google friendship if anything like that is left any more! Google is yet again entering in Apple’s market.

It’s really interesting to see how Apple, Microsoft, Google and a couple other companies are all converging and overlapping one another, but come from completely different niches in the tech industry.
Regardless, the more competition in the market place the better.

It is interesting to see what MS has to say about this. Google is giving a good competition to MS.
