Twitter launches a new feature ‘Local Trends’ which allows user to see trending topics based on a particular location. Twitter employees have also tweeted this and confirmed the roll out (here and here).
According to Mashable, Twitter said:
“We’re rolling out local trends to 1 percent of users today, but we’ll share more information when it reaches a larger audience hopefully sometime next week. We’ll keep you posted when that happens”
‘Local Trends’ feature will be on the right side of Twitter homepage, which will list out respective trending topics of a city/country. Till now, this is limited to 15 U.S. cities.
This is how it will list out trending topics.
It is expected, Twitter will fully roll out this feature by next week.
I think, it is a very relevant feature, people can associate themselves with the trending topics as they will be able to access trends locally. Twitter has become very popular and not limited only to U.S., this feature was very much in demand.
