Zynga, the company behind the famous Facebook App “FarmVille” is going to launch their first overseas development centre (outside USA) in Bangalore, India. The other popular app from Zynga in Facebook includes Fishville, Mafia Wars and Cafe World. Zynga is the biggest company in social game industry and invites more than 239 million monthly users to Facebook. Lets put the facts straight: Farmville itself is bigger than Twitter in terms of monthly active users. Farmville gets around a whopping 69 million monthly active users (see the pic below) as compared to Twitter which only gets close to 18 million.
Zynga is expected to hire about 100 people in their India centre. You can find the pic below for one of the openings in Bangalore centre. Presently India has 81 million Internet users and its expected to become third largest online market by 2013 behind China and US. Out of these 81 million users, only 6.3 million monthly active users in India are using Facebook and tens of millions of people are still using the deadpan Orkut. But the scenario is changing as more and more number of users are dumping Orkut and flocking to Facebook for making their experience better and also to get rid of lifeless Orkut. This is the best time for Zynga to step in. Apart from getting a cheap labor pool in India, the local office will also help them increase their presence in Indian market.
