Google Launches A Person Finder For Chile Earthquake Victims
Google has launched a Web App – “Person Finder: Chile Earthquake“. This application connects people of Chile who have information about missing people to the person seeking information about the same. The home page is divided into 2 parts
- I’m looking for someone
- I have information about someone
The interface is quite simple and user friendly at the same time [Snap shot below].
Launched only today, this application is already “tracking about 3900 records“. Google sure deserves an applause for this. Few days back we noticed how Twitter along with Digicel Network brought free SMS tweets to people of Haiti and this person finder by Google is again a great effort. This is why I love Google. It is not only about dollars and cents, they are literally turning their technology and their monopoly to the advantage of millions of people who are suffering from this natural calamity. Thumbs Up Google! This also reminds us the power of web in situations like these. Person Finder: Chile Earthquake is like “crowd sourcing” with a very focused audience.
