Motorola’s Plan for Upgrading to Android Ice Cream Sandwich

Once Google released the source code for their latest version of Android operating system, dubbed Ice Cream Sandwich, makers of Android devices began working on an upgrade for their respective devices. Offering an upgrade and then executing it is more complicated than one might think. Certain adaptations must be made in order for the new operating system to work effectively with the device as well as the carriers. Unfortunaly, source code releases does not equate to instant updates.

Whenever Google comes up with a next version of its mobile operating system, a specific device is selected to launch the new OS. Makes of the the chosen mobile device work in partnership with Google to get the operating system working with the new phone. Once this process is complete and the device is released, then Google releases their operating system. This is the point at which update plans can be designed.

Motorola has announced that they are working to get the Ice Cream Sandwich source code compliant with their devices. Not only will this allow current users to obtain an upgrade but future devices that are to be released should have the Ice Cream Sandwich as well. Once the OS is adapted for different hardware then Motorola will work on making the product more stable by working out the bugs. Once this process is complete, the Ice Cream Sandwich update will need to be certified for use by various carriers. Motorola may allow limited customers to test the updates. Upon completion of these steps, the lreease will occur.

Motorola plans on upgrading as many of their mobile phones as they can. There are certain factors that make some devices more compatible with Ice Cream Sandwich than others. Presently, Motorola plans on upgrading their Droid RAZR, Motorola RAZR, Motorola XOOM and Droid Bionic to the newer version of the Android Operating System. These handsets come with some of the best mobile phone deals, you can check out all the new line of Motorola phones today at the online mobile stores like Phones 4u.
