There have been some big updates today so I thought that instead of writing about just one of them better brief up all of them along with relevant links. Lets start with the biggest.
Office 2010 Launched:
Microsoft has officially launched its latest edition of its Office suite today – Microsoft Office 2010. It also includes a free online edition called Office Web Apps to compete head on with rival Google. Microsoft took every one by surprise last year when it announced that Web edition of Office will be free. Office 2010 has been receiving very positive reviews right from the time its preview was launched in July last year. Along with this, Office 2010 Mobile has also been launched which is available with the desktop version. A free upgrade is also available for users of Windows Mobile 6.5
Twitter seems to facing with some unusual problem right now. Our own Twitter account – @TechDusts right says that we have 0 followers and 0 following. This is also true for my own Twitter account. The Lists part seems fine. @TechDusts had some 5k followers and until some hours back and this almost certainty is a bug. I have checked various Twitter account and all them had 0 followers and 0 following.
Not only is the iPad selling like hot cakes but its sales have already started affecting the netbook market. Netbook sales which were growing at a crazy pace of 641% year-over-year not more than a year ago have reduced drastically. A chart published by a Morgan Stanley analysts says that the same figure for April ‘10 could be as low as, guess what? 5%.
Steve Jobs has decided to reason with people who have criticised him for locking out flash from his mobile devices.
The criticism Apple has faced over not allowing Flash in iPad, iPhone and iPod has led Steve to write an Open Letter titled “Thoughts on Flash”. In the letter Steve has explained in length why Apple is not adopting Flash technology in its mobile devices. The letter starts with Steve giving a brief history of the relationship between Apple and Adobe and how they have worked together successfully over a period of time. However Steve also hinted that when Apple was almost about to die back in the 90s Adobe did not come to save Apple i.e. -> THIS . But then comes the meat of the whole thing. Steve gives 6 points explaining in length why Apple’s decision of not having Flash in its mobiles devices is NOT a business decision.
Steve Jobs showed up at Lucile Packard Hospital, Stanford a few days ago to promote organ donation. Arnold Schwarzenegger, governor of California [also present there] talks about how Steve almost persuaded every one get this bill on organ donation passed as soon as possible. Steve who himself got a Liver transplant almost a year ago said in the speech that how difficult it is to get a organs in California and how he almost died getting one. He later moved to Memphis, Tennessee where he finally got a Liver of a young boy and got saved. Steve says

The Web is abuzz for the past two days with complete details/photos/videos of the 4th generation iPhone. Gizmodo got this yet to be released 4th generation iPhone after it was allegedly misplaced by an Apple employee Gray Powell. Sure Powell has committed the mistake of his lifetime and could very well be sacked by Apple. In turn Apple also stands to lose marketing worth millions of $$ it gets before major product launch. But this post is not about iPhone and Gray Powell or Steve Jobs. It is about Sun Danyong.
India’s Twitter darling, Minister of State of External Affairs Mr. Shashi Tharoor resigned today over the alleged corruption charges. Shashi Tharoor who is the most followed India on Twitter with a following of over 700000 and one of the few Indians on Twitter Suggest User List (other being Vir Sanghvi) seems to be loosing his grounds in the virtual world of tweets as well. I just peeked into Twitter sentiments a while back and the verdict of Tweeples is slowly turning against Mr. Throor.
Chrip – Twitter’s firstDevelopers Conference is going on in SF right now. Twitter co-founder Biz Stone started with the an intro speech followed by co-founder Ev Williams and then Ryan Sarver (Director of Platform).
